Manchester United Rejected Real Madrid’s ‘£27.4m Plus James Rodriguez Offer’ For Paul Pogba

Manchester United have rejected Real Madrid’s audacious offer of £27.4m plus James Rodriguez for Paul Pogba.

The United midfielder, 26, admitted his desire to quit Old Trafford in recent months amid speculation linking him to Los Blancos and Juventus.

According to the Times, Madrid’s latest offer for the World Cup winner included Rodriguez, 28, and £27.4m.

But United have swiftly rejected the bid as they value Pogba at a whopping £150m.

Rodriguez, who was on loan at Bayern Munich for the past two seasons, returned to his parent club this summer and has been linked with Atletico Madrid and Napoli.

But Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, 47, has no place for the Colombian star in his plans at the club next season.

Reports in Spain claimed that Pogba refused to play in United’s final pre-season clash against AC Milan on Saturday in order to force a move to Madrid.

But United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, 46, said that the former Juventus star missed out on the match due to injury.

“I wasn’t expecting him [on the plane]. I spoke to him after training and he didn’t feel right,” he explained.

“Paul will probably be back early next week training. It’s not an injury, he just felt some pain.

“We didn’t want to risk anything this weekend and he should be OK for Chelsea. I hope so.”

Solskjaer said there are “no doubts” in his mind that Pogba is committed to the club, despite being linked with Madrid and Juventus.

Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness recently slated Pogba and Romelu Lukaku, who has been linked with Juventus and Inter Milan, for wanting to leave United in the summer.

“Pogba and Lukaku say they’re off because they want to play for a bigger club and Champions League football,” he said.

“They already play for a massive club. United are a monster — always have been, always will be. Inter Milan aren’t bigger than them.

“And they say it’s because United aren’t in the Champions League.”

United kick off their Premier League campaign on Sunday when they host Chelsea at Old Trafford.
